In short

  • Everything you enter stays on your phone, encrypted. We have no server and cannot see it.
  • There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
  • Backups are encrypted with a recovery key that only you hold, even when stored on your Google Drive.
  • Payments are handled by Google Play. We never see your card or UPI details.

1. Who we are

Teacher’s Diary (“we”, “us”) makes the Teacher’s Diary mobile app, a classroom diary for teachers. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app and this website, teachersdiaryapp.in.

2. Data we collect

We do not collect personal data through the app. The app has no server of ours to send data to, does not ask you to create an account, and contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting software. We do not sell, rent or trade any information.

This website is a simple set of pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and to keep the site running. The site loads its font from Google Fonts.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and use them only to reply to you.

3. Data you keep in the app

You decide what to enter. Depending on how you use it, the app may hold:

  • About you: your name, school and the classes and subjects you teach.
  • About students: names, admission and roll numbers, class, date of birth, gender, photos, addresses, phone numbers, attendance, marks, assignments, fees, and scholarship-related details such as social category, economic status, IED and orphan status, school or government student IDs, Aadhaar number, and bank account details.
  • About parents and guardians: names, relationship, phone numbers and occupation.
  • Documents: files and photos you attach, such as certificates.

Most of these fields are optional. All of this information is stored only on your phone and in backups you choose to make. It is used only to give you the app’s features, such as registers, progress cards, fee receipts and reports. We never receive it.

4. How your data is protected

WhatProtection
All recordsAn encrypted database (AES-256), with a random key held in the phone’s secure hardware keystore.
Photos and documentsEach file is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Nothing is stored unencrypted.
BackupsEncrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key protected by your recovery key, which is shown to you once and never stored by the app or by us.
Opening the appA 6-digit MPIN, with optional fingerprint or face unlock, auto-lock, increasing delays after wrong attempts, and a privacy cover in the recent-apps screen. Student pages block screenshots.

Because we never hold your keys, we cannot recover your data if you lose both your phone and your recovery key. Please keep your recovery key safe.

No system is perfectly secure. For example, a phone that has been rooted and infected with malicious software could expose data while the app is unlocked. Keep your phone updated and protected with a screen lock.

5. Google services

Google Play (subscriptions)

Subscriptions are bought and managed through Google Play. Google processes your payment under the Google Privacy Policy. The app receives only the status of your subscription (for example, active or in its free trial) so it can turn features on. We never see your payment details.

Google Drive backup (optional)

If you turn on Google Drive backup, you sign in with your Google account and the app asks for permission to manage only the files it creates in your Drive (the drive.file permission). It cannot see your other Drive files. Backups are encrypted on your phone before upload, so neither we nor Google can read them. You can disconnect Drive in the app and remove the app’s access from your Google account at any time.

Apart from Google Play and the Drive backup you choose to start, the app makes no internet connections.

6. Phone permissions

  • Internet and network state: for Google Play subscriptions and the optional Drive backup.
  • Notifications: for reminders you set in the app. They are created on the phone, not sent from a server.
  • Run at start-up: so your reminders still appear after the phone restarts.
  • Photos and files: only the photos or files you pick using Android’s own picker. The app does not ask for access to your whole gallery or storage.

7. When you share data

The app lets you export and share information on purpose, for example a PDF progress card, a report, a fee receipt, an Excel file of students, or a WhatsApp reminder to a guardian. These exports are not encrypted once they leave the app, and the app warns you before you share personal details. Aadhaar and bank account numbers are masked in exports unless you choose to include them in full. Once shared, the file is handled by the app or person you sent it to.

Temporary copies made while sharing are deleted automatically.

8. Students and children

Teacher’s Diary is meant for teachers, not children. Children do not use the app and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.

The app holds students’ information that you, as a teacher, enter and control. You are responsible for recording only what your school role requires and for following your school’s rules and applicable law, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, such as having the consent or authority needed to record students’ details. We do not process this information on your behalf because we never receive it.

9. Keeping and deleting data

  • Your data stays on your phone until you delete it. Students can be archived, and a student without history can be deleted permanently.
  • Settings → Erase all data removes everything from the app. Uninstalling the app also removes its data and keys from the phone.
  • Backup files you saved, and backups in your Google Drive, stay where you put them until you delete them.
  • Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to help you.

10. Your rights

Because your records are stored on your own phone, you can view, correct, export and delete them yourself at any time in the app. If you have a question about information you sent us by email, or want it deleted, contact us and we will respond.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
