Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Teacher’s Diary (“we”, “us”) for the Teacher’s Diary mobile app (the “app”) and this website. By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to subscribe.

2. Using the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own work as a teacher or school staff member, in line with these terms and Google Play’s terms.

You agree not to:

• copy, modify, resell or redistribute the app, or remove its notices;
• reverse engineer it, or bypass its subscription or security features, except where the law allows;
• use it for anything unlawful, or to record information you have no right to hold;
• share access codes given to you for testing with people they were not meant for.

3. Subscription and free trial

• Plans. Teacher’s Diary Pro is offered as a monthly plan (₹199) or a yearly plan (₹1,990). Prices shown in Google Play at the time of purchase, including any taxes, apply.
• Free trial. New subscribers get the first month free. Nothing is charged during the trial. Unless you cancel before it ends, the plan you chose starts and is charged automatically. Trial eligibility is decided by Google Play.
• Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled.
• Cancelling. Cancel any time in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. You keep full access until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Refunds. Payments are handled by Google Play, and refunds follow Google Play’s refund policy. You may also contact us and we will help where we can.
• Without a subscription. The app becomes view only. You can still open your records, export reports and Excel files, and back up or restore. Adding or changing records needs an active subscription.
• Offline use. The app checks your subscription with Google Play when it can, and keeps full access for up to 14 days without internet.
• Price changes. If prices change, Google Play will tell you in advance, as its rules require, and you can cancel before the new price applies.

4. Your data

Everything you enter in the app is yours. It is stored encrypted on your phone, and we have no access to it. You are free to export it or delete it at any time. Please see our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Your responsibilities

Teacher’s Diary holds personal information about students and their families. When you use it, you are responsible for:

• recording only the information your role needs, and having the authority or consent your school and the law require, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023;
• keeping your phone, MPIN and recovery key secure, and not sharing them;
• taking care when you export or share information from the app, such as Excel files, reports and messages to guardians, because exports are not encrypted;
• checking the accuracy of what you enter and what you send to your school or office, such as marks, attendance, fee and scholarship records.

Fee receipts and statements made by the app are records for your convenience. They do not replace your school’s official accounts.

6. Backups and your recovery key

Your data lives only on your phone and in backups you make. If your phone is lost, damaged or reset and you have no backup, or you lose your recovery key, your data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. This is a deliberate part of the app’s security. Please back up regularly and keep your recovery key written down somewhere safe.

7. Ownership

The app, its design, name and logo belong to us and are protected by law. These terms do not give you any rights to them other than the licence to use the app described above.

8. No warranty

We work hard to make Teacher’s Diary reliable, and we test every release. Even so, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will always be free of errors or interruptions, or that it will meet every particular need.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app, including loss caused by a missing backup, a lost recovery key, or information you chose to export or share. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

10. Ending these terms

You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Remember to cancel your subscription in Google Play, because uninstalling does not cancel it. We may suspend or end your licence if you seriously break these terms. Sections 4 and 6 to 11 continue to apply after these terms end.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India. Before going to court, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the matter together.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will also mention it in the app’s release notes. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
